Evidence of Second-Order Transition and Critical Scaling for the Dynamical Ordering Transition

In this chapter, we develop transverse current-voltage (force-velocity) measurements to reveal whether the dynamical ordering from a disordered plastic flow to an anisotropically ordered smectic flow is a true phase transition or a crossover. Using the method developed here and a scaling analysis, we provide evidence of the second-order dynamical ordering transition between the plastic flow and smectic flow.
