This chapter provides a comprehensive guide on hepatobiliary CT examination techniques, divided into preparation, scanning methods, contrast medium usage, and postimaging processing technology. Prior to the examination, patients must fast and avoid certain medications to ensure clarity of images. Children or uncooperative patients may require sedation. Nursing and technician preparations include helping oral iodine solution intake and ensuring patient information accuracy. The scanning methods include plain and enhanced scans, with the latter utilizing water-soluble iodine contrast to differentiate between normal and diseased tissues. Various types of enhanced scans, such as dynamic and delayed scans, are used for different diagnostic purposes. Postimaging processing involves 2D and 3D technologies like MPR, CPR, MIP, VR, and CTVE to enhance visualization of structures and lesions. The chapter also discusses the use of nonionic contrast media due to their lower toxicity and side effects compared to ionic counterparts. Safety measures and hydration protocols are highlighted to minimize adverse reactions.
