Cirrhosis combined with hepatocellular carcinoma refers to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) formed on the basis of cirrhosis, in which the cancerous nodules have clear borders and fibrous envelopes, and are exclusively supplied by the tumor arteries without fatty degeneration. Imaging examination shows that HCC is mostly slightly hypointense in CT plain scan, obviously strengthened in arterial phase and reduced in density in portal venous phase and equilibrium phase in enhancement scan. In MRI examination, HCC shows low signal or slightly low signal in T1WI, high signal or slightly high signal in T2WI, and the DWI sequences show obvious diffusion limitation. In ultrasonography, HCC is mostly a hypoechoic nodule with clear borders, which can show the “halo sign.” The diagnosis of HCC needs to be combined with imaging and pathological examination to differentiate it from hepatic adenoma and focal nodular hyperplasia of the liver (FNH).
