Effects of Perceived Trust, Perceived Privacy, and Technology Anxiety to ChatGPT Adoption for Medical Self-Diagnosis: A Structural Equation Modeling Approach

The integration of modern information technology in healthcare has given rise to the field of health informatics, with Artificial Intelligence (AI) rapidly emerging. ChatGPT, a Large Language Model AI, shows promise of being able to provide medical information but also raises concerns about potential misinformation. This study investigates the factors influencing the adoption of ChatGPT for medical self-diagnosis, focusing on perceived trust, privacy, and technological anxiety. Utilizing a qualitative analysis of survey responses reveals that perceived trust and technological anxiety significantly impact user intention, while perceived privacy’s influence is non-existent. Participants appreciate ChatGPT’s potential but maintain trust in human medical expertise. The study contributes insights for fostering user acceptance and responsible integration of AI tools like ChatGPT in healthcare, emphasizing the need for strategies and policies that address trust-building and mitigate anxiety.
