Data-Driven Insights for Strengthening Information Security Awareness in Higher Education Institutions
摘要
This research centers on improving information security awareness (ISA) in higher education institutions (HEIs) through the application of data analytics techniques. The research aims to address the increasing risks relating to information security and the crucial role of the human element in mitigating these risks. While technological solutions are crucial, human error and lack of awareness often serve as the security system’s weakest link. HEIs, as custodians of vast amounts of valuable data, need to recognize the significance of ISA and take proactive measures to improve it. This research fills the gap by showcasing the potential of data analytics techniques in deriving insights, developing strategies, and enhancing ISA within HEIs. As a result of this research, a data analytics framework has been created specifically to cater to ISA in HEIs. This study contributes to the field by showcasing the value of data analytics in strengthening ISA within HEIs. The importance of considering the human aspects of information security is highlighted, along with a practical guide for institutions to evaluate, analyze, and enhance their awareness levels. The outcomes of this study have practical implications for HEIs, enabling them to proactively address security risks, foster a culture of heightened awareness, and safeguard valuable data and resources against cyber threats. By utilizing data analytics to make informed decisions, HEIs can improve their information security practices and safeguard stakeholders from possible human factor breaches by utilizing data analytics to make informed decisions.
