The Impact of Entrepreneurial Alertness and Innovativeness on SMEs’ Crisis Management in Oman: Evidence from A ‘Sharqiyah Governorate’s Entrepreneurs

In the last two years, the Corona pandemic crisis has caused damage to SMEs worldwide, notably in Oman. As the traits of entrepreneurs are crucial for the creation and the development of SMEs, the aim of the chapter is to focus on the impact of entrepreneurial alertness and innovativeness on SMEs crisis management. To measure these two important entrepreneurs’ traits on the effectiveness of managing the COVID-19 which is a recent crisis, a survey has been conducted among 166 entrepreneurs acting at A’ Sharqiyah Governorate. The results show that there is a significant relationship between the entrepreneurs’ alertness and innovativeness and this pandemic crisis management faculty. The main originality of this research is to use the alertness trait with innovativeness to understand the phenomenon of crisis management among entrepreneurs freshly exiting from this pandemic troubling crisis. This research opens multiple horizons to delve into other topics to understand how to improve innovativeness and entrepreneurial alertness traits among entrepreneurs for better risk and crisis management while drawing the attention of policymakers to prepare a future generation of entrepreneurs reactive and proactive toward any environmental change to guarantee the SMEs sustainability.
