Implications of COVID-19 for Workforce in Oman

摘要

The workforce was adversely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemicPandemic. The companies and government designed new policies and regulations to manage the negative impact of Covid-19 on the employees as well as on the company’s revenues. The aim of this chapter is to explore the changes in the workforce policies particularly in Oman. It analyzes how the leave policies, incentives, working hours, health insurance, benefits, and training were affected during Covid-19. The chapter has used a quantitative method to achieve the objectives. The data on the workforce were collected from both online and offline surveys distributed among the companies operating throughout the Sultanate of Oman. The software SPSS V 26.0 was used for the analysis. The data analysis and further investigation has shown that the workforce policies in Oman have been impacted immensely by the Covid-19 crisis. There was a substantial decrease in the wage payment and reallocation of the working hours. Moreover, leave was allowed however unpaid, and the companies were less eager to finance training and international visits. The chapter will help the policy makers to rethink the crisis management strategies. The other researchers will use the chapter outcomes to further advance the topic and do region specific chapter.
