摘要

Nowadays, the field of artificial intelligence (AI) is experiencing unprecedented growth in almost all aspects of modern life (e.g., entertainment, e-commerce, marketing, education, fraud prevention, facial recognition, navigation, voice assistants, and chatbots). Even if we are not yet fully aware of its potential or wealth, AI is already present in our daily lives. As a result, we are witnessing the exponential growth and demand for quality translations in the AI domain worldwide. This chapter presents a novel technology-assisted methodology to train university translation students. We advance a corpus-based gamification approach to enhance students’ acquisition of domain-specific AI terminology in line with the requirements of the current and future labour market. In order to assess the impact of our technologised approach, a pilot study has been conducted with undergraduates of the Bachelor’s Degree in Translation and Interpreting offered by the University of Malaga (Spain). Our main goal is to ascertain the benefits (and possible drawbacks) of introducing a protocolised gamification methodology in the specialised translation classroom. To the best of our knowledge, this is one of the first empirical studies focusing on gamification applied to the acquisition of AI-specific terminology for translators.
