Telehealth played a crucial role during the pandemic by enabling remote medical consultations, reducing the risk of virus transmission, and ensuring continued healthcare access for many. It helped alleviate the strain on healthcare systems and provided a convenient alternative for non-urgent care. However, it also highlighted disparities in virtual assessments for certain medical situations. In remote areas, telehealth had a significant impact during the pandemic. It provided access to medical services that might not have been readily available. Patients in remote locations faced challenges such as limited Internet connectivity and lack of technology infrastructure. The correct guidelines must be provided for telehealth services because their efficient use can fundamentally alter the way the nation’s healthcare system operates. Therefore, even after the epidemic, it is crucial to comprehend how telehealth might be used. Still there are barriers to effective telehealth adoption in remote regions. This article reviews the challenges of rural area beneficiaries in healthcare services and also briefs the applications of telehealth services.
