摘要

IPR in biofertilizer is of great significance in today’s rapidly evolving agricultural demands. To improve soil fertility and plant development while minimizing environmental consequences, this developing industry significantly depends on breakthroughs in microbial strains, manufacturing techniques, formulations, and applications. Moreover, biofertilizers have gained immense popularity due to environmental friendly practices over sustainable chemical derivative fertilizers but face a unique challenge in terms of intellectual property protection due to biological nature. Patents, trademarks, trade secrets, copyrights provide inventors with exclusive rights by safe guarding their innovations of novel microbial stains, processes, formulations, and applications. It helps companies to commercialize the biofertilizer product without the fear of imitation and can establish distinctive image, logo, name. Hence it can maintain the confidentiality of the product and facilitates the sharing of knowledge that contributes to socio-economic growth and advancement in biofertilizer industry. One of the main drawback of IPR is it provides patent for limited time period, thus reducing effectiveness of maintaining competitive advantage in sector as natural processes and its development are time consuming. Overall, IPR provides legal mechanism to safeguard the inventions, branding, confidentiality information, and creativity of work associated with biofertilizers.
