摘要

It is a clinical term used to describe a reddish-purple often nodular and ulcerated localized tumor that bleeds easily and may grow rapidly. It is claimed that the clinical onset of most is at about the second or third month of pregnancy, gradually increases in size, and after delivery may or may not regress. It is now believed that “pregnancy tumor” is simply a pyogenic granuloma which occurs as a result of local minor trauma or irritation and in which the reaction is probably intensified by the endocrine alteration occurring during pregnancy. There appears to be no justification to retain the term “pregnancy tumor” since this lesion with an identical clinical and histologic nature is seen in men and in nonpregnant women.
