Histoplasmosis

Histoplasmosis is a generalized fungus infection caused by the organism Histoplasma capsulatum. H. capsulatum is dimorphic, growing as yeast at body temperature in the human host and as a mold in its natural environment. It is usually acquired by inhalation of dust containing spores of the fungus, the contamination probably occurring from excreta of birds.
