Giant Cells in Tumors

These are larger, have numerous nuclei, which are hyperchromatic, and vary in size and shape. These giant cells are not derived from macrophages but are formed from dividing nuclei of the neoplastic cells, e.g., carcinoma of the liver, various soft tissue sarcomas, etc.
