Measles

Measles is an ancient disease, but for a long time, no distinction was made between measles and other exanthematous diseases, including smallpox. It was only in 1629 that measles came to be considered as a separate entity. Thomas Sydenham in 1690 gave the first clear and accurate description of measles in the English language.
