Giant Cell Tumor of Bone
摘要
Giant cell tumor (GCT) of bone is also known as osteoclastoma. They are fairly common tumors, accounting for about 20% of all benign tumors of the bone. Most cases arise in the epiphyses of long bones, particularly the distal femur, proximal tibia, proximal humerus, and distal radius. Giant cell tumors are true neoplasms that exhibit a wide spectrum of biologic behavior from benign to malignant. The relationship between this lesion and central giant cell granuloma is controversial. Most regard the giant cell tumor as a distinct entity from central giant cell granuloma, acknowledging the very rare occurrence of giant cell tumors within the jaws.
