Role of Yoga in Primary and Secondary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease

This chapter discusses the significant benefits of practicing Yoga for prevention as well as management of cardiac disease. Yoga is known to improve heart health by reducing blood pressure, improving blood circulation, and reducing stress levels, which are all risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Additionally, Yoga can help manage symptoms of cardiac disease by improving flexibility, balance, and breathing capacity. The chapter also covers the different forms of Yoga that can be particularly helpful for individuals with cardiac disease, such as gentle and restorative Yoga. Overall, this chapter highlights the importance of incorporating Yoga into the treatment and management of cardiac disease to improve overall cardiovascular health and quality of life.
