摘要

The world is increasingly facing challenges of neurological disorders such as stroke, Parkinson’s, dementia, epilepsy, migraine, and Alzheimer’s, due to the growing elderly population and lifestyle and environmental changes. Current researches have demonstrated the positive impact of specific Yoga poses and breathing techniques on brain health. However, there are several challenges like compliance, adherence, few standard and validated Yoga protocols, dearth of Yoga research laboratories, lack of a standardized certification for Yoga trainers, and lack of an integrated Yoga therapy clinic or department in hospitals which still need attention for using the full potential of Yoga for managing neurological disorders. Thus, it is important to enhance research infrastructure, establish integrated Yoga therapy clinics, and standardize certification of professional personnel. These changes should be implemented by policymakers for changing the situation. This chapter also provides policymakers with suggestions that may be effective for changing people’s attitudes and beliefs and closing the knowledge-practice gap about Yoga for neuronal and integrative health.
