Bio and Medical Applications of Carrageenan-Based Bionanocomposites

There are many potential applications for carrageenan bionanocomposites that divide into many different applications, including medical and drug delivery, nanolayered coating, dye adsorption, cathode catalyst, voltammetric sensor, and capillary electrophoresis. Additionally, carrageenan biopolymers were discussed as a promising class of materials that are physiologically compatible and biodegradable. Various methods such as solution casting, dipping, and blending methods have been developed for the production of carrageenan bionanocomposites, which are discussed in detail in this chapter. Researchers’ efforts to eliminate or reduce these drawbacks by developing new designs and using nanoparticles have also been reviewed.
