Review and Challenges: Identify Malnutrition Among Children Under 5 Age

Malnutrition is a major issue in several areas where people have a low level of access to diet. The very difficult stage of childhood is the inadequacies of nutrition and maintenance of the body through hampering. The various biological factors that may cause malnutrition in children among age 5 are, namely genetic makeup, age, disease states, growth, and gender. Also, the non-biological factor that can cause malnutrition among children is the socio-economic status which has a major role in it. This paper provides a survey of 25 research papers on nutrition-related topics. In this paper, the survey is provided based on several categories, including categories of methods, applied datasets, utilized tools, evaluated metrics, and publication years. Throughout this entire analysis, it is identified that machine learning (ML)-based techniques are widely used, the most of papers were published in the year 2020, and the toolset repeatedly used here is MATLAB, Java, and similarly, body mass index (BMI) is frequently used performance metric.
