Interaction of Ionizing Radiation with Matter
摘要
The energy transfer mechanism of ionizing radiation plays a vital role in its detection and measurement. Hence, understanding its interaction with matter is important in radiation dosimetry. Depending upon the type of radiation the interactions may be with either nuclei or orbital electrons of the medium or both. In this Chapter, a detailed description of interaction of ionizing radiations such as photon, electron, heavy charged particle and neutrons, with matter is presented.
