Ionizing Radiation Measurements
摘要
Ionizing radiations have diverse applications that span multiple domains from the humble lab-scale radioactive check source to the extreme radiation environment inside the nuclear reactor core. And across this widespread use, accurate and precise measurement is crucial for its effective application. As an introduction to Volume II on dose measurements, this chapter aims to provide the reader with a broad overview of ionizing radiation measurements. Here the importance of measuring ionizing radiations will be discussed along with general measurement techniques. Its measurement in diverse settings will also be presented briefly along with emerging trends in measurement. Finally, the challenges associated with measuring ionizing radiation will be touched upon. This chapter aims to set the context for the chapters later to follow in this volume.
