摘要

Present-day distribution system operation has become complex due to load growth and reactive power requirements which leads to higher cost of reactive power sources and increased losses. Reactive power management and increasing demand in power system require the power system network operator to plan their generation to meet load demand maintaining the voltages and improving the overall efficiency of the system. The generation utilities are shifting their generation from conventional to non-conventional resources due to environmental concerns. In this paper, analysis of the distribution system has been carried out to minimize the power loss and cost of the power loss along with capacitor cost. The impact of different load models and reactive support from the capacitor bank has been considered for the analysis. Through load modeling, the planning and control of a particular power system can be done. In emergency condition, there will be chances of better control of power system by capturing the load variation and guide the power system operator to avoid further critical circumstances. The load growth has been also considered in analysis. The main objective of the work is: (i) minimizing cost of loss, cost of capacitors; (ii) load model impact on the cost and losses; and (iii) impact of load growth on losses and cost. Results on IEEE-33 radial distribution system are obtained using GAMS.
