Teaching and Studying the Italian Language and Culture in China: Perceptions, Challenges, and Chances

Undoubtedly, learning to communicate in the/a foreign language can be seen as an important part of going abroad. But how can language learning be more successful? This paper presents the results of a study of the interaction between Italian teachers and Chinese-speaking students in the classroom. The authors used a questionnaire to understand the difficulties and obstacles encountered during their interaction. They present the Task-Based Learning and Teaching (TBLT) method that aims to help Sinophones move away from the classic grammar-translation method, encouraging their classes to speak Italian. They argue that the TBLT method proved useful for students to adapt to new interaction styles. These findings aim to contribute further to research on teaching Italian as a foreign language in China.
