A Canadian in Poland: Lessons Learned

This chapter is a reflection on the time I spent in Poland teaching in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme of the Warsaw School of Economics. Working abroad in 2008 and 2009 and not having technological advances such as Google Translate, Skype, or WhatsApp at my disposal, I show the complexities one has to deal with as a visiting professor: understanding foreign food, language issues, and loneliness. Against this background, I provide recommendations for institutions that hire international professors.
