摘要

This chapter introduces the concept of the Nordic Peace, analyzing its development from historical conflicts to a sustainable and stable peace within the Nordic region. It outlines the book’s structure, detailing the examination of three historical conflicts that reveal the principles underpinning the Nordic Peace. These principles facilitated trust-building and prevented a return to past conflicts, contributing to the region’s transformation into a security community free from the threat of war. The methodology section describes a qualitative, historical approach focusing on hermeneutic interpretation to understand the socio-historic context of these transformations. The objective is to elucidate the mechanisms of peace that have allowed the Nordic countries to establish a high-quality peace, offering insights that could potentially apply to conflict resolution in other regions, and for this book, Northeast Asia.
