The spirit of Chinese humanism is suffused with the historical responsibility of “studying the ancient classics to meet present needs” (jingshi zhiyong)Studying the ancient classics to meet present needs (jingshi zhiyong) 经世致用. Chinese education, academies, culture and even personal cultivation all enshrine this responsibility. Edified by this spirit of responsibility, a plethora of statesmen, strategists, thinkers and literary artists emerged through the history of Chinese culture. Fearless as they were in the face of danger and difficulty, all of them dedicated themselves to fighting for their people and their country. Right up until the present day, their spirit remains significant.
