Introduction

As the introduction to this book, this chapter explains the dynamics of the regime-change event in 2021, stresses the methodology, and explains the three most formidable challenges facing any field investigation in the borderlands of Myanmar. Then, this chapter clarifies the key terms adopted in this book, and briefly presents an outline of the chapters.
