The patient was treated by esophagectomy. The final pathological diagnosis was moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, pT1b (SM3), ly1, v1, pPM0, pDM0, and pRM0 (Figs. g and h). The lymph node metastases (3/56) were pathologically detected in the mediastinum.
