Investigating Suitability of IoMT Aid in Orthopaedics: Features, Adoption, Barriers, Future
摘要
With the recent advances in healthcare technology real-time information collection through digital monitoring and keeping electronic health record (EHR) not only facilitates the patients in tracking their own health and in receiving correct treatment faster but information analytics also contribute to the development of better healthcare devices and services leading to the med tech industry to grow. Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) plays its role with connected healthcare devices, forming a connected network, in processing real-time information to come up with actionable conclusions leading to effective therapeutic processes. The basic idea of integration of IoMT in healthcare is connecting and communicating in the simplest way with the patients enabling support for strong patient-centric services. Orthopaedics includes problems that patients experience in the bones, joints, and ligaments and is a healthcare domain that demands IoMT aid due to the increasing prevalence of lifestyle effects and growing incidences of obesity, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, etc. This work examines the potential of IoMT with its connected devices based network system in offering effective health monitoring, better health services, and clinical treatment to orthopaedic patients in general to severe health conditions.
