摘要

For the apparel and textile industries, nanotechnology represents a revolutionary breakthrough by facilitating enhancements to the functionality (chemical, electrical, biological, optical, physicochemical, mechanical, thermal, etc.) and performance of textiles. The modernization of the textile sector through the use of nanomaterials in textile finishing has transformed conventional textiles into smart textiles. The development of nanotechnology has changed the context of the textile and fashion industries, with applications in a variety of textile categories, including casual wear, sportswear, protective apparel, smart wearable electronic textiles, medical textiles, and self-cleaning textiles. Unlike traditional approaches, nanofinished textile substrates add utility while maintaining comfort, handling, and breathability. This chapter explored the types of nanomaterials used in textile finishing for numerous applications such as antimicrobial, antistatic, UV protective, electrically conductive, water repellent, flame, abrasion, and wrinkle resistance.
