Challenges and Opportunities in Nanotechnology for Textile Finishing
摘要
In the ever-evolving landscape of textile manufacturing, the integration of nanotechnology has emerged as a transformative force, promising to revolutionise the way we think about textile finishing. The combination of textile science with nanotechnology has created new opportunities for the engineering of textile surfaces at the atomic and molecular scale, leading to remarkable improvements in functionality, performance, and aesthetics. The potential uses of nanotechnology in textile finishing are virtually limitless, ranging from improving water repellency to providing self-cleaning characteristics from incorporating intelligent sensors to manufacturing textiles with superior durability. Despite the rapid pace of nanotechnology-related research, development, and commercial exploitation, there are currently no standards or regulations in place to govern these activities. Therefore, it is essential to acknowledge the challenges associated with this revolutionary development in textile finishing.
