Nanofinishing of Nonwoven Fabrics

Nonwoven fabrics show the great impact in textile field with various applications such as health care, hygiene, geotextiles, filtration, buildings, upholstery, shoe and leathers, and medical. The market of nonwoven has gaining popularity as the size of population increases, also with governmental policies. Nanofinishing of such nonwoven textiles enhanced the performance of nonwoven in application sectors. The finishing can be performed at fiber, fabric or yarn level, and can be incorporated with the process also. Commonly, nanoparticles are embedded with the nonwoven fiber fabric and utilized as and when it requires. This is achieved by spray coating, plasma deposition, layer-by-layer technique, and sol–gel method. The chapter deals with the various applications of nanofinished nonwoven textiles in various fields.
