Nanotechnology has been in progress for over twenty years, encompassing a scientific domain focused on materials within the range of 1–100 nm. Due to their unique surface properties, it is used in a wide array of industries like textiles, electronics, medicine, optics, aerospace and others. Nanotechnology has emerged as a transformative force in the textile industry, revolutionizing the way fabrics are engineered and utilized. It is utilized to enhance the features of textile materials, leveraging its myriad distinctive characteristics that empower the creation of sophisticated and smarter fabrics boasting a wide array of functionalities. Nanoparticles such as silver, copper, gold, zinc oxide, magnesium oxide, titanium dioxide, gallium oxide, and nanoclay possess the ability to impart distinct properties to textiles. This section explores different nanomaterials applied to synthetic fibres and their impact on resulting properties. These attributes encompass fire resistance, antimicrobial properties, UV protection, self-cleaning abilities, resistance to dirt and water, as well as a range of physical and mechanical traits.
