Xie Guozhen and His Work on the Literati Association and Faction

Xie Guozhen (1901–1982), courtesy name Gangzhu, was also known as “Master of Guadi’an” late in life. He was born in Anyang, Henan, and was a famous historian and bibliographer with a research focus on Ming and Qing history. In 1919, Xie left Anyang to study at the Nankai Middle School in Tianjin, and soon after he transferred to the Huiwen School in Beijing for college preparatory studies.
