Li Anzhai and His Study of Social Etiquette

摘要

Li Anzhai (1900–1985), a native of Baitazhai Village, Qianxi County, Hebei Province, was a sociologist and scholar of Tibetan studies. In 1923, he was admitted to Cheeloo University in Jinan, Shandong, and he later transferred to the sociology department at Yenching University in Peking. Following his graduation in 1926, he stayed on as a teaching assistant and lecturer at the sociology department as well as materials compiler at the Institute of Chinese Studies. As he was proficient in the English language, he was hired by the Soviet Union consulate in Zhangjiakou as an English translator. He was also a member of the Communist Party of China.
