Chen Da and His Study of the Chinese Population and Labor

Chen Da (1892–1976), art name Tongfu, was a sociologist with roots in Lihe Village, Yuhang, Zhejiang. In 1911, he was admitted to the preparatory class for studies in the United States at the Tsinghua College. He subsequently traveled to the US for studies in 1916, and received his doctorate from Columbia University in 1923.
