Wu Zelin and Social Restraints

Wu Zelin (1898–1990), a contemporary sociologist, ethnologist and educator, was born in Changshu, Jiangsu. In 1913, he was admitted to the Tsinghua College. After graduating from the school in 1922, he traveled to the United States for further studies. He earned his bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees at the University of Wisconsin, the University of Missouri, and the Ohio State University respectively.
