Building for the Future: MCSJ

This chapter focuses on Majola’s co-founding of the Movement for Change and Social Justice (MCSJ), an umbrella organization for several CBOs. Based in Gugulethu, and with chapters throughout the district of Klipfontein, MCSJ consists of deeply experienced activists, many of them currently or formerly with TAC, and local community members new to activist work. Here, we draw comparisons between the COVID response of MCSJ and its partner Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) in Cape Town and similar local CBO responses in Brazil and India.
