Optimizing Healthcare Throughput: The Role of Machine Learning and Data Analytics
摘要
Machine learning (ML), a branch of Artificial Intelligence is at the center of revolution in healthcare. By analyzing the complex data trends and biomarkers, it makes early disease detection and diagnosis, improving medical care for wide range of medical conditions. ML suggests possible drug candidates, improves molecular structures, and tests complex drug interactions, leading to efficient and cost-effective methods for drug discovery. Electronic Health Records (EHR) have changed the way of decision making by physicians as they can predict patient’s risks, disease growth, and suggest treatments. ML has made diagnostic processes more accurate and faster in radiology, pathology, and ophthalmology. ML makes a huge step forward in personalized medicine and precision medicine by creating models that customize treatments and therapies based on genetic, clinical, and lifestyle data for each patient. It powers predictive modeling in healthcare, which predicts patient outcomes, hospital readmissions, and resource allocations. This lets the healthcare professionals make choices based on data that improve patient care and streamline processes. Natural Language Processing pools important information from clinical texts, medical literature, and patient records, helping with clinical decision support. Telemedicine helps watching patients remotely, have telemedicine consultations, and analyze data from wearable devices. Thus, ML makes healthcare more accessible and efficient. This chapter covers basics of data analytics and ML with respect to current state of the healthcare system. It provides insights into the techniques, technologies, advances, challenges and applications of ML and its potential to revolutionize healthcare, thereby leading to accurate diagnoses, personalized care and better health results.
