It begins by elucidating the diverse sources of protein and delineates the process of preparing crude protein extracts from these sources in the initial sub-sections. Subsequently, the focus shifts to the extraction of proteins from membranes, encompassing both extrinsic and intrinsic membrane proteins. Specifically, Section 1.2.2 delves into the extraction of fish proteins, detailing various methodologies including repeated water washing and refining, pH shift method, solvent extraction method, enzymatic hydrolysis, and autolytic hydrolysis. Furthermore, the chapter delves into protein purification methods, which include the determination of protein concentration utilizing techniques such as ultraviolet absorption, the Lowry method, the bicinchoninic acid method, the Bradford method, and Kjeldahl analysis.
