Renal Cystic Disease in Children

Renal cystic disease (RCD) in children is a common reason for referral to pediatric nephrology services. They may be due to hereditary mutations, sporadic, or a part of a syndromic disorder. The renal cysts may present to the clinician during antenatal ultrasonography, in a neonate, or later in childhood as a part of an incidental screen or part of kidney/multisystemic abnormalities. It is important to make an accurate diagnosis in these cases for management as well as family counselling. This chapter shall deal with common renal cystic disorders encountered in pediatric nephrology practice and describe their radiological abnormalities.
