Aerodynamic Analysis of Automotive Vehicle with Body Duct

This paper investigates a possible application of the new ‘Active Aerodynamics’ technology that has become popular in the fields of racing and high-performance vehicles. A high-end vehicle is desired to have great stability and higher performance when pushed to its top speeds. Utilizing a suitable electronic control system coupled with an electromechanical dynamic actuation system will give more control of the airflow around the vehicle, to the vehicle or driver itself. Therefore, in this paper, a suitable system of ducts is designed to regulate the flow of air from the front to the rear of the vehicle. The objective is to reduce the drag during throttle and make the vehicle more stable at high speed. This must also improve the performance of the vehicle as the engine has to work less to drive the vehicle. The design procedure is carried out in CAD software, and analysis is performed in CFD software.
