Thermal Comfort Management of Industrial Safety Helmet Using PCM
摘要
This work reports the design and fabrication of a thermal comfort management system for an industrial safety helmet. A pouch containing a Vaseline phase change material (PCM) was placed beneath the inner surface of the industrial helmet to absorb and store the heat produced. The heat dissipated from the helmet’s internal surface towards the wearer’s head is directed towards the PCM for almost 2 h. This keeps the inner temperature of the helmet at the comfort level temperature of the wearer. The experiments on the helmet with the PCM pouch demonstrated that there was a reduction of approximately 3–4 °C in the internal temperature of the helmet.
