摘要

As the fossil fuels, for example, petroleum and diesel are depleting at a high rate, it is now a days necessary to use an alternative which can be produced easily as per the requirement hence researchers coined the term biodiesel. Its production can be done from either edible or non-edible oils. Biodiesels have many advantages as compared to other fossil fuels for example it is environment friendly and it is less costly. It produces less emissions and hence the issue of global warming can be solved by using biodiesels. Edible oils are the oils that can be consumed by humans as food and non-edible oils are the ones that humans cannot consume and both of these oils are good source for production of biodiesels. Biodiesels are produced in many ways, usually it is produced by the process of transesterification which may take place in the presence of either acidic catalysts or basic catalysts. The biodiesels have certain fluid properties, for example, density, flash point, viscosity, cetane number etc. The properties of a biodiesel should match the required properties of fuels so that the engines can use such biodiesels to produce good amount of work without any damage. There are some characteristics and process parameters of biodiesels which need to be optimized so as to get maximum performance from a biodiesel, hence optimization of biodiesel is very important, and we will cover that topic too in this project. We will do experimental work in this study and then we will use the software to analyze the experimental data, and hence we will again use design expert software plot the graphs such as contour plot and 3D response surface.
