摘要

The use of enhanced designs can efficiently and economically reduce the efforts necessary to produce desired results. One of the most important parts of an engine, the piston, which comes into contact with the working substance, must be designed so that the maximum amount of energy released by the working substance is converted into useful work. It must also function harmoniously with other parts of the engine to reduce process losses and increase efficiency. A comparative study has been done on thermal and structural analysis for pistons while using carbon and aluminum alloy in IC engines. In this paper, the study revealed that aluminum alloy can handle more load than carbon, heat flux is also low in carbon pistons, and the stress developed on the piston head is low in aluminum as compared to carbon. This study concludes that aluminum alloy could withstand higher loads better than carbon for the piston.
