摘要
Total hip arthroplasty (THA) provides excellent pain relief and functional recovery in advanced hip arthritis. On the other hand, if revision is required for any reason, the incidence of complications is observed to increase, unlike initial replacement. For this reason, some consider that patients should be kept on a conservative waiting list even if they have pain until after the age of 60 years. Hip arthroplasty has been perform for more than 50 years, and the results of hip arthroplasty are stable. The definition of young patients for THA is not clear; however, several overseas studies indicate that the age of THA patients is less than 30 years old. In this section, we discuss the clinical outcomes of THA in relatively young patients in Japan and in patients under 30 years of age in Europe and the United States.
