Basic Surgical Techniques for Cement THA
摘要
Bone cement is a biomaterial that is used to fix implants to bone. When the powder and liquid are mixed, polymerization reaction initiates, and the bone cement hardens in approximately 10 min. To obtain firm fixation between bone and implant, pressurization of bone cement into cancellous bone is essential. In this chapter, femoral side and acetabular side cementing technique is described. Furthermore, interface bioactive bone cement technique that can strengthen the bone-cement fixation, and antibiotic-loaded bone cement that can function as a drug delivery system, are introduced. Finally, bone cement implantation syndrome is alerted.
