Basic Surgical Techniques for Cementless THA

  • Kazuhiro Oinuma

摘要

The advantages of the cementless cup are as follows: (1) the technique is simpler, which shortens the operative time and the surgeon’s learning curve; (2) there are many options for the weight-bearing surface, including ceramic liners, large diameter heads, and dual mobility; and (3) even after the cup is placed, it can be easily repositioned if malaligned or hip instability is detected intraoperatively. The disadvantages are (1) early postoperative dislodgment and migration risk if the initial fixation is inadequate and (2) intraoperative fractures may occur during implantation, causing early postoperative cup migration and loosening. Therefore, it is necessary to become proficient in this simple technique to overcome these drawbacks.
