Silver-Containing Hydroxyapatite-Coated Artificial Hip Joints
摘要
All medical devices used in human body, including artificial joints, are associated with the risk of infection because immunosuppression can occur locally around the inserted implant and bacteria can adhere to the implant surface [1, 2]. Implant-related infections are characterized by biofilm formation on the implant surface. Once a biofilm has formed, it is considerably more difficult to remove the bacteria from the implant [3].
