A Comparative Analysis of Mortality: Deaths from Poisoning Versus Other Causes (2019–2021)

In our study, we analyzed the Crude mortality rates and Age-standardized mortality rates from poisoning deaths exposure to toxic substances in South Korea from 2019 to 2021 employing registered death data from Statistics Korea. Our findings revealed Age-standardized mortality rates from poisoning deaths accounted for 6.15, 5.72, and 5.95 per 100,000 population in 2019, 2020, and 2021 respectively. By logistic regression analysis to estimate odds ratios between poisoning deaths and non-poisoning deaths, there was a heightened risk of poisoning deaths among men, younger groups, outside metropolitan regions compared to other causes of deaths.
